Attorney Biography

Raye Jones practices in the areas of estate and tax planning, including wills, trusts, estate and trust administration, taxation, as well as business planning and church law. Mr. Jones received a B.A. with distinction in U.S. Government from the University of Virginia in 1979 and a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia in 1982. He received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the Marshall Wythe School of Law in 1993. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar's Trusts and Estates and Taxation sections, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association, and the Central Virginia Estate Planning Council.

Mr. Jones and his family are active members in their local church. He is also a long-term member of the Board of Directors of the Good Samaritan Ministries, Ltd., a homeless shelter in Richmond, Virginia, which provides shelter, food, job training and job placement for the homeless, low-cost homes for low-income families, and a private school to develop academic excellence in troubled youth. He regularly lectures and presents seminars for the general public and private companies on estate and business planning and tax issues.

In July-August, 2010, Mr. Jones went to Kenya, Africa with 16 members of his church and a medical team (doctors, pharmacists, nurses) of 24 people. The medical team treated over 1,600 patients. The church team helped put a new roof on a church building and Mr. Jones was able to speak in four schools, the Nyahururu prison twice, four different churches and in homes of local friends and families. Mr. Jones helps support five local Kenyan pastors and helps two orphans attend school. Mr. Jones will return to Kenya with the same medical team in January 2012.
